Recapping the AMA Sessions
We started over three months ago, where we hosted two extensive AMA sessions on the new economy design, to give a proper introduction to the update.
These sessions featured three key figures behind the project: Project Lead — Manfred Pack, Game Director — Keith McCullough, and Game Economy Designer — David Otero.
During these recorded AMAs, they took their time to provide comprehensive answers to questions submitted by our community about the new economy design.
If you want to refresh your memory, missed these sessions, or just want to see how Manfred, Keith, and David look in real life, check out the recaps on our YouTube channel: New Economy Design Part 1 and New Economy Design Part 2.
Land Tier List Unveiled
In October, we shared an article that delved into the new Land Tier List. This article not only explained the significant changes in the land system but also introduced Golden and Silver Shards.
The Tier List System, a new addition, categorizes lands based on their unique qualities. The article also explains the benefits of staking lands, and how this flexible approach caters to changing mining demand. It also gave an insight into the analytical methods used to establish land tiers.
Terraformed Economy Update
The excitement continued with the release of an article detailing the changes to land with the Terraformed Economy update in Dalarnia. The highlights include:
- Equal Lands: The update replaces depth info with a new ‘rank’ field, ensuring fairness for all landowners.
- New Capsules: Introduction of capsules with 2 resources and 50 digs per refill.
- Upgrading Lands: Plans to allow land upgrades later in the year.
- Replenish Timer: A flexible cooldown system based on capsule tiers and types.
- Dismantling Old Capsules: Capsules can be dismantled into resources until December 31, 2023.
- Remaining Digs: Landowners with remaining digs can claim resources after the Terraformed Economy update, with a claiming deadline of December 31, 2023.
Resource Mining Redesign
Later in October, we were pleased to let you know that the mining system is getting a redesign as well. We explained that instead of the previous high-score system, the new design places a strong focus on the resources players mine. Making mining more transparent, while also creating more excitement by adding a new level of strategy to complete digs as best as possible.
- New Backpack System: A new Backpack System ensures that both beginners and experienced players can collect up to 50 slots, allowing for efficient and targeted resource collection.
- Resource Fragments: To maintain resource rarity, the Fragments System is introduced. Instead of gems, players collect resource fragments, which vary in quantity required for each resource. Fragments are specific to each mining run.
- Time Bonus Redesign: The Time Bonus system is revamped with Time Gems. Players can maintain their time bonus by collecting time gems and defeating monsters, which now directly influences resource yield.
- Aspects and Perk Rebalancing: Changes are made to six equipment perks due to the redesign, but equipment perks for competitions remain the same. The aspect system no longer requires matching equipment aspects to enter mines but offers significant attributes and mining capability boosts.
Introducing Modbots
At the start of November, we introduced a new exciting feature called Modbots, a new idle game. This strategic game allows players to earn $DAR tokens and actively contribute to the game’s mining resources.
From the game overview to the game mechanics, read more about it here.
New Replenishment Capsules Logic
Just recently we shared how the Terraformed Update is designed to make land management economically more attractive for landowners in our most recent article.
With the replenishment logic being redefined, capsules are now way cheaper. This change affects mainly landowners, but this should be an interesting topic for all miners.
What else is coming?
If that wasn’t enough, along with the release of the Terraformed Update, the delayed Halloween Event will be available in Mines of Dalarnia. We had to wait for the Terraformed update to go live to be able to offer the event, but we hope you still enjoy chasing Pumpkonium for Glorbo, the space alien holo suit!
Lastly, we would like to emphasize that releasing this update doesn’t mean we’re done. We’re already filled with ideas of how we can make things even better, with some of them already planned and in production. As always we would love to hear what you think about this and future updates, so please share this with us via our Discord channel or on any of our community servers. We appreciate all feedback!
Mines of Dalarnia continue to evolve, offering more engaging and enriching experiences for our players. Stay tuned for more updates on the progress and developments in the Dalarnian world!
