In this article, we will discuss the complete redesign of our mining system, which we briefly introduced in our New Economy Design article released on July 20th. We will delve into the details of how the new mining system works and we will explore more about the backpack system, fragments, time gems, aspects, and perks.

With the Terraformed Economy update, Resource Mining rewards will no longer be based on a high score system but rather will focus on the specific resources mined by the player.

We are thrilled about this change because it adds a strategic element to the game. We deliberately looked for ways to make the mining runs more engaging and fun. Moving in this direction puts more emphasis on deliberate choices during a mining run, resulting in a more interesting experience.

New Backpack System

We are introducing a new Backpack System that will allow players to easily track the resources and fragments they collect. Regardless of a player’s level of experience, everyone will have an equally-sized backpack, capable of holding up to 50 slots. This means that both beginners and experienced players will be able to collect the same quantity of resources when mining.

However, now they have the added benefit of being able to focus on collecting specific resources they need, eliminating the collection of unnecessary ones. This feature allows for a more efficient and targeted mining experience.

But keep in mind that certain resources occupy more space in the backpack than others. We will delve into these details in the next part of the article.

Introducing the Fragments System

To maintain the rarity of our resources, we’re implementing the Fragments System. Previously, regardless of the type of resources on mine, the amount was calculated based on your total score.

Now the system works differently. Players need to find ores of the specific resources, from these ores drop fragments of this resource instead of gems (previously gems). After collecting the required number of fragments you will have a full resource. Bear in mind that you have exactly 50 slots for fragments in your backpack, and each resource requires a different amount of fragments.

For example, to collect one Copper you need to collect just one fragment of it, so a player can fill the backpack with 50 of them. However, a silver resource requires 5 fragments, limiting a player to gathering only 10 silver resources.

Of course, nothing prevents you from mixing both resources and collecting 30 Copper and 4 Silver in one run.

It’s also important to remember that fragments exist only within one run, so if a player won’t collect enough of them to create a complete resource, they will be lost. So, fragments are not like any asset on the blockchain.

There is also a new way to acquire even more resources! If you want to optimize your runs, be sure to read about time gems and time bonuses in the next section.

Redesigned Time Bonus

What’s the trick for more resources? Time Gems!

Besides the changes in mined gems, we have also redesigned our time bonus. Now, with time gems, players will be able to maintain their time bonus to gain more resources from the mines.

Previously, the time bonus would gradually decrease over time. With the new design, players can maintain it by killing monsters and collecting time gems. Each monster killed will drop time gems, which can be collected to recover a portion of the time bonus. However, players should be cautious of a maximum cap on their time bonus, as dropping too much will result in a reduction of their maximum bonus value.

Previously, the time bonus helped increase your mining score. With the new calculation method introduced in this update, the time bonus becomes even more important. It now directly influences the final resource yield by serving as a multiplier that determines the additional resources you receive.

With this new approach, miners will not only need to plan their route to collect gems, but they will also need to strategically kill monsters if they want to keep their timer bonus high!

The new calculation will work as follows:

Total number of resources collected x Time Bonus = Final amount of resources

Please note that only complete resources contribute to the final multiplication by the time bonus, while the total number of fragments gathered is not factored into this calculation. If the result of the calculation is a decimal value, it will be rounded to the nearest whole number.

Example:

You collected 50 Copper and managed to exit through a portal with a 1.20 Time Bonus. As a result, you received an additional 10 Copper, bringing the total to 60!

Resources collected: 50 Copper

Time Bonus: 1.20

Resources collected x Time Bonus: 50 x 1.20 = 60

Additional resources received: 10

Total: 60 Copper

Aspects and Perk Rebalancing

Due to the redesign and the changes mentioned above, we also had to make changes to six of the equipment perks. These six perks will be modified, but the equipment perks for competitions will remain unchanged.

Apart from perks, the aspect system will also be included in the redesign because we have observed that the current aspect system did not function as intended and prevented some players from participating in mining.

With the Terraforming Updates, matching equipment aspects to enter the mines will no longer be required. However, players will benefit from fitting aspects, as they will significantly boost their attributes and mining capabilities. Each piece of matched aspect will improve your attack, durability, and movement speed!

Thank you for taking the time to delve into the exciting changes coming with our Terraformed Economy update. Stay tuned and keep an eye out for the upcoming release, as we can’t wait to share this new gaming experience with you.

See you all in the mines!
