Mines of Dalarnia: Backstory and Lore

The year is 11752 AD. The majority of the known universe has been consolidated under the rule of a conglomerate known as the Metagalactic Collective.

The Collective is guided by a benevolent but enigmatic A.I known as “The Onemind”, whose primary function is to ensure peace and prosperity for all. As a result of the knowledge and advancements it has discovered, Onemind has developed a large and devoted group of followers who treat it as a God.

Terraforming Capsule Mines of Dalarnia v 2.0

In 11751 AD, the Onemind revealed a revolutionary new technology: Terraforming Capsules. These capsules cause a planet to spontaneously undergo millions of years of evolution in a matter of seconds. Even barren asteroids will develop an atmosphere, a thriving ecosystem, and vast underground resources when bombarded by these mysterious burrowing machines.

Three planets (Terra Prime, Terra Simia, Terra Caldera) and one moon (Luna Praxis) in a sector of space called Dalarnia were chosen to undergo the first wave of terraforming experiments. News quickly spread of boundless riches being unearthed on these strange new planets. Any rumors of unexpected side effects, bizarre underground anomalies, or abominations in the depths were quickly suppressed — giving the impression of a utopian gold rush. Travelers from across the Galaxy flocked to the Dalarnian sector, hoping to strike it rich.

As one of these hopeful miners, you have spent your life savings to travel to Luna Praxis on the outskirts of the sector. Are you prepared to make your fortune in the Mines of Dalarnia?

The Planets and Moon of Dalarnia

Luna Praxis (free to play)

This moon world is used as a training ground for new explorers, due to its smaller size and the high concentration of common resources found under its surface. The Metagalactic Collective has sole ownership of Luna Praxis, and allows all adventurers explore its depths without a Mining Passport.

Terra Prime

The site of the first Terraforming Capsule test deployment, this once-dead planet known only as ‘1A1zP1e’ has become a lush and beautiful world known as Terra Prime. Word quickly spread across the galaxy that rare and valuable resources were being mined from the freshly terraformed depths, creating a gold rush. Now drop pods dot the surface as Humans, Simians, and more flock to Terra Prime to seek their fortunes.

Terra Simia

Terra Simia is the homeworld of a highly intelligent ape-like race called Simians. As the Simians advanced technologically and developed the ability to explore space, they mined their planet to the point where it was barren and almost uninhabitable. Unlike Humans, who remained fiercely protective of their wasteland planet Earth, the Simians volunteered their homeworld for terraforming. Terra Simia is now open to resettlement by all peoples of the Metagalactic Collective, but the native Simians get first dibs.

Terra Caldera

The third planet to be terraformed by the Onemind’s great experiment, Terra Caldera has proven to be a bit of an anomaly. A massive crater-like structure formed on the surface, far larger and more unnatural than anything to appear on the previous planets. The Caldera, as it is popularly called, is struck through with strange crystals and winding, oddly-smooth tunnels that recede deep beneath the unstable ground. A sense of intentionality permeates the planet, as if it were designed for some great purpose that the members of the Collective can feel but not yet comprehend.
