Mines of Dalarnia Update 1.3: Perks Rebalancing
We understand that perks rebalancing is important for several reasons, particularly in video games and other competitive activities where equipment perks can significantly impact gameplay and user experience.
Therefore, to ensure that no single perk or combination of perks becomes overpowered or dominant and to create a more dynamic and engaging experience, we’ve taken player feedback into account and have made significant changes to our perks system in the upcoming Mines of Dalarnia Update 1.3.
Our goal was not to nerf anything, but instead to bring underused perks up. The perks that were completely redesigned were the ones that we deemed either basically useless or too difficult to balance fairly. These changes should now allow players to build into speed, defense, offense, score efficiency, etc. so that there are playstyles and circumstances where each strategy is strong.
And in this article, we will inform you of the changes that have been made to some equipment perks.

Logic behind the changes
Gem Bonus Perks:
We did not change the green and red gem bonuses as both foster specific playstyles. However, there was no way to make the “purple gem bonus” good or interesting, for example. Therefore, we changed it to “monster gem bonus” so that players with offensive builds can increase their score when hunting monsters. This change makes it interesting and impactful and makes sense in a build. Mathematically, all gem bonus changes are buffs or break-even during normal play.
Specific Defense Perks:
The other major category that we redesigned was the monster type defenses, i.e., “Defense against insects.” They were too specific and didn’t have much value. It was hard to build around since players couldn’t say, “I’m going to fight insects now.” Instead, we changed them to boost stats in specific aspect biomes, allowing players to double down on aspect-specific builds. Combined with the stat bonuses for stacking aspected gear, it’s now possible to invest in very powerful loadouts for specific aspects or go more general.
The defense against projectiles perk is designed for Deeper Depth players, in particular, since turret plants get a lot of kills. In the future, more projectile-shooting enemies will be added. It’s somewhat narrow, but when it helps, it will help a lot.
Hybrid Perks:
Finally, the combination perks that used to give a negative to one stat and a positive to another were not worth the trade-off. They were already pretty rare, so we decided to change them to boost two stats and have no downside. If you are stacking only one stat, like damage, you’ll still want the damage-focused perk. However, if you’re making a more balanced build, the hybrid perks will be better overall.
The team’s perks rebalancing initiative represents a significant milestone in the game’s development. We believe these changes will make perks more impactful and interesting. It may not be perfect, but with the new perks in place, players can look forward to an enhanced gameplay experience in Mines of Dalarnia.
