Update 1.3: Astrolab Competitions Overview
We’re thrilled to announce that Mines of Dalarnia Update 1.3 is finally going live!
Don’t miss our live stream on May 10th at 2 PM UTC on Discord, featuring our Game Director and Workinman Interactive’s COO, Keith McCullough to learn more about competitions in Update 1.3!
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Testnet and helped us test out Astrolab and other upcoming features. Your feedback and support have been invaluable, and we can’t wait to bring all of these new features to Mainnet so that even more Dalarnians can experience what we have been working on together.
Astrolab
With the release of Update 1.3, Mines of Dalarnia introduces its first tournament game mode that allows players to compete on a leaderboard. Get ready to experience a whole new level of challenge and excitement in Astrolab!
You will embark on a thrilling adventure to Asteroid Astrolab 9, where a catastrophic containment breach has caused the heart of the asteroid to be terraformed in an endless loop of generation and destruction.
As a brave miner, it’s up to you to gather as many gems as possible from the depths of this chaotic, ever-changing mine and escape before it’s too late. The Metagalactic Collective has posted rewards for the most daring miners, so get ready to compete with your fellow miners for the ultimate prize.
Push your luck by going deeper and deeper into an endless mine that gets harder with every level. Gather gems and make your escape to enter Mines of Dalarnia’s first-ever rewarded leaderboards.
Will you have what it takes to climb to the top and become the most legendary miner of them all?
Competition Mechanics
- Join the competitions, make it to the leaderboard and get a chance to win $DAR!
- The goal is to collect as many gems as possible within 10 minutes and accumulate a high score.
- After reaching the portal and finishing a dig, you can decide whether to dig deeper or to pass. If you choose to pass, your score will be displayed on the leaderboard. However, if you choose to dig deeper, beware that it will become increasingly challenging with each level. As you descend deeper into the mine, you will encounter more obstacles, so be prepared!
- On each level, your score multiplier is increased, so even if digging deeper means more obstacles and challenges, it also means earning a higher score.
- If you die in the middle of an expedition or if your time runs out, your final score will be reduced by 50%. So, be cautious and use your time wisely.
- Keep in mind that you only have 5 attempts to complete a level, so make every attempt count and be sure to familiarize yourself with the map during your first few attempts to maximize your score in the later ones.
- The duration of the competitions varies; some can last for 24 or 48 hours, while others can go up to 72 hours.
- The competitions can either be Fixed Gear, where all players have the same equipment, or non-fixed gear, wherein players are allowed to use their own choice of equipment.
- In both Fixed Gear and non-fixed gear competitions, boosters will prove to be useful and essential in achieving a high score.
Upcoming Competitions
With the first competition set to launch on May 15th, participants can expect a thrilling and fair competition in which their skills and strategies will be put to the test. The competition will be a Fixed Gear event, which means that all participants will use the same type of equipment, removing any potential advantages or disadvantages that may arise from having different gear and ensuring that all participants have an equal chance of winning.
To join the competition, interested individuals will need to pay a 2.5 DAR entry fee. This fee will contribute to the prize pool, which currently stands at 1000 DAR. Furthermore, Miners must own a mining pass and either a) have a wallet with Miner Level 2 unlocked or b) be a whitelisted Ape holder. The Ape Holder whitelist snapshot is refreshed at midnight on the first of every month, and another snapshot will be taken at midnight on the morning of May 11th before mainnet goes live. Swapping an Ape to a wallet will not grant immediate access to competitions for that wallet; the owner will have to wait for the new snapshot.
While the first competition will be a fixed gear event, future competitions may feature different types of equipment and gameplay mechanics. More information about upcoming competition schedules, fees and rewards will be announced accordingly, giving participants ample time to prepare and strategize for each event.
We hope you’re excited to participate in the Astrolab Competitions! Keep an eye out for more information on fees and rewards, which will be announced in the coming days.
