Today, we would like to share some more visuals taken from in-game developer testing of Version 2.0, taking the opportunity to highlight the upcoming changes to the game. Let’s check it out!
Players will now have the benefit of a heads up radar display that will help them more easily identify resources, treasures, and enemies.
Revamped Inventory Mechanics
We have received several suggestions from players on ways to improve the inventory system from Version 1.0. The way that items are organized, displayed, and managed will become more intuitive in the new version.
Enhanced Backgrounds and Lighting Effects
One of the most striking differences between the old and new version is the background and lighting effects. The new version will incorporate more gradual and natural looking light changes and boast more colorful, detailed, and varied backgrounds.
Improved Character Models and Interaction
Objects in the foreground will also see drastic changes, starting with the player model itself. Actions will become far more dynamic, with full animation accompanying the various actions taken by the player. For example, when nearing a ledge the avatar will react by ‘teetering’:
Advanced Enemy models and behavior
The enemy models throughout the Dalarnian world have been given a full overhaul, and their behavioral patterns have been tweaked to pose a greater challenge and encourage more advanced strategies and manoeuvres by the player.
Additional weapon choices and animations, with a load out system
As the mining plot and depth system becomes more robust, choosing the correct tools for a specific job will become more important. While 2.0 will still feature the pickaxe, the drill, and other tools from 1.0, it will also offer new tools and accompanying animations for the player to utilize in dangerous situations.
More to Come…
As we continue preparing V2.0 for Alpha testing, we will be providing more sneak peeks ahead at what is to come for Mines of Dalarnia. We are proud to say that the new version will deliver massive improvements while maintaining the spirit and addictive gameplay of the original.
