Mines of Dalarnia 1.8: A Pirate Adventure Awaits

The depths of Dalarnia have been overrun by pirates in Update 1.8. This new adventure brings tough challenges, shiny loots, and dangerous enemies. Here’s a simple guide to what’s new in the game — no need to be a seasoned sailor to understand!
The Pirate Game Loop
The pirate adventure is built around a three-part loop: Pirate Beacon → Safehouse Scout → Boss Bounty. Here’s how it works:
1. Pirate Beacon: Tougher Digs
Spend resources to activate a Pirate Beacon before a dig. This makes the run harder, with random modifiers like stronger enemies, lava pits, or even total darkness. But the rewards will be richer if you survive!
- Defeat pirate minibosses to collect MapFrags, which help you find Safehouses.
- The deeper you dig, the better the loot.
2. Safehouse Scout: Raid the Pirates
Use MapFrags to enter Safehouse Scout missions, where you’ll mine through asteroids, battle pirates, and collect Contraband. Watch out for hazards like collapsing platforms and rising tides!
- Fight minibosses for big rewards.
- Collect Contraband to unlock the next stage: Boss Bounty.
3. Boss Bounty: Face the Captains
Use Contraband to enter the Boss Bounty mission, where you’ll face pirate bosses across three floors. Each boss has unique attacks, so be ready to dodge, fight, and outsmart them.
- Beat the final boss to claim powerful pirate gear and rare rewards.
New Resources: MapFrags & Contraband
Two new currencies will help you unlock pirate missions and rewards:
- MapFrags: Found in boosted digs in Pirate Beacon, used to access Safehouse Scout.
- Contraband: Earned in Safehouse Scout missions, used for Boss Bounty.
Customize with MatMods
Give your tools and weapons a fresh look with MatMods. Choose from multiple designs like Blackstone or Magma to show off your style while mining. These are cosmetic upgrades, not stat boosts, but they’ll make you look ready for battle.
Big Rewards for Bold Miners
Pirate content offers top-tier loot:
- Tier 3 Gear: Strong items with perks to help you in battle.
- Tier 4 Gear: Rare pirate-themed gear with powerful abilities, only from Boss Bounty missions.
New rewards:
- Equipments: Two new armor sets (Pirate and Elite Pirate).
- Holos and New Slots: 27 new holos designed to expand your capabilities, including the highly anticipated Jump Jets.
- Plumes: To add style and flair to your character.
When Can You Play?
Only a couple of hours left for the Pirate Takeover! Regular digs now have a 20% chance to feature pirate enemies, so everyone can get a taste of the action. For the brave-hearted, boosted digs and pirate missions bring even greater challenges and rewards.
