We deployed the first Terraforming Capsule on Planet 1A1zP1e, Dalarnia Sector, as directed by OM. I’ve never seen anything like it.
The planet was just your typical green zone boulder. A dusty, dead world that never even had an atmosphere, let alone life. We released the capsule from our skiff at the appointed time. It drilled through the crust, disappearing into a faintly glowing hole in the bedrock.
Nothing happened for several minutes. I can’t speak for the others, but I never doubted OM’s creation. I was giddy with anticipation.
The surface of the planet erupted. The ground began to roll in every direction, all the way to the horizon. Then it all “turned over” — I don’t know how else to describe it — like when you turn over dirt with a shovel. The landscape came back, only darker and wetter. Idriss recorded the phenomenon as 90,000 square kilometers in size.
Mountains began to rise up below us. Some of the others got nervous, but I never lost faith. Sir Koepe chose to disregard OM’s prescribed hover altitude and brought our skiff up higher. Typical ape. Please report his mistrust to Management.
Trees grew in the valleys between the mountains. A lake filled up from the bottom. Clouds appeared above us, as if descending from space. A cloud covered our skiff, obscuring our view of the transformation. No doubt this happened because Koepe brought us up too high! By the time we were able to see again, the process was finished. The planet’s surface had been utterly transformed. A lush landscape of green and purple plantlife stretched out below.
I’m told it will take 1,600 capsules to terraform the entire planet. I respectfully request to be assigned to as many of these missions as possible. The experience is transcendent. Spiritual.
