Anniversary Highlight: Introducing our New Marketing Manager
Dear Dalarnians,
As a part of our commemoration of the upcoming Mines of Dalarnia 2.0 Anniversary, we want to recognize and honor the five individuals who play pivotal roles in the game’s development and our community. To help you get to know them better, we have prepared a set of questions for each of them to answer.
We are thrilled to introduce Jorn Wisman, our new Marketing Manager, as the first of these outstanding individuals. Despite being new, we believe he will play a crucial role in elevating Mines of Dalarnia to even greater heights.
To provide you with a better understanding of who Jorn is and the unique qualities he brings to our team, we asked him questions about his personal life, his career and Mines of Dalarnia.
PERSONAL QUESTIONS:
Where are you located?
J: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
What’s your favorite hobby?
J: I have so many hobbies that I enjoy, including food, drinks, gym, video games, music, and books.
What’s your favorite food?
J: I’ll go with a traditional Dutch one: Hutspot. It’s real easy comfort food for winter, usually accompanied by a gehaktbal (big meatball).
What’s your favorite video game?
J: Again, there are so many games I like, but Final Fantasy VII has had a big impact on me as a gamer. In terms of hours played, I’d say Dead Cells.
What’s your favorite series/movie?
J: Seinfeld! But some more recent ones that made an impact on me are: Ted Lasso, Severance, One Punch Man, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Attack on Titan, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, Parks and Recreations, and The Mandalorian.
What’s your favorite music genre?
J: Hip Hop, but I also love most music genres. Even putting on Sesame Street for the 1000th time and singing along with my son.
ABOUT MINES OF DALARNIA:
How long have you been in the crypto space?
J: Over half a year now? Still relatively new, but being a part of this project is like a speed course on the subject.
How long have you been playing MoD?
J: Not very long. I’ve been playing the game since I became a part of the team in February.
Can you tell us more about your background in the gaming industry and how you perceive MoD from a marketing perspective?
J: I’ve been in the gaming industry for more than 15 years, where I’ve worked for PlayStation and Rockstar Games before joining the Mines of Dalarnia team. My experience is in a more mainstream environment, but that gives me a different perspective on the game than maybe most of the other members of the team. That’s also why I enjoy working on MoD. I think the game has a lot of potential and I can’t wait to start communicating about the next steps.
Of course, we have our hurdles, but we have a solid team with experience and willingness to continue learning. A team that’s agile enough to make fast and smart decisions so the game comes out stronger in the process, which hopefully will result in more happy players enjoying the game’s experience.
How do you collaborate with other teams, such as the game developers, to ensure that your marketing efforts align with the overall goals of the game?
J: Keep communicating with the whole team and be transparent about what you’re doing. Marketing isn’t the department that’s making the game, but we know how to reach an audience. So we always need to make sure that what we’re working on is in line with the game and the objectives we have as a team.
That’s why I’m also very happy with the Community Manager’s that work on this project. It’s a bright and fun bunch that’s working very hard to inform everyone as best as possible. Shoutout to the team!
What do you like the most about this project?
J: The team! I like the game as it is, but it has so much untapped potential and the team gives me the feeling we’ll get there.
How do you see Mines Dalarnia after a year?
J: As a solid game that’s fun for both traditional and blockchain gamers where everyone can get their mining on. Also packed with loads of content that will keep it interesting for new and existing players.
Anything else you would like to share with our community?
J: Fasten your seatbelts! Although there may be a few bumps on the road, great content is on the way!
We would like to thank Jorn for taking the time to answer our questions and for sharing his insights with our community. We hope that his responses will give you a better understanding of his perspective, values, and experience.
Look forward to learning more about the other four individuals who will be featured as part of our celebration.
